We get asked a lot of good questions and so we wanted to take some time to answer them.
How will the game be monetised? Will heroes be freely available? Are we going to get free cosmetics?
We don’t know for sure exactly what the details will be - We will likely experiment with different things until we find something that works, but we can guarantee that it will be free to play.
How many heroes will be available on release?
We’re aiming for 20 on release, and we want them to have a nice mixture of different playstyles with an interesting cast of characters. We will be regularly updating you on how the development of these characters is going.
How many attributes will there be?
4. Strength, Intelligence, Agility and Will. This means that support heroes get an attribute all of their own, instead of being forced into an ill fitting category for ease. Baumi wrote a blog post about it, which you can read HERE
What platforms will Spark be on?
PC. We are unsure if it will be a Steam game or not, we are keeping our options open. We’re also aiming to release it on Linux.
Why is the game called Spark?
It’s named for its lore, not its mechanics. The “Spark” is the name of the magic that slowly began flowing into the world. We will elaborate more on the lore very soon. It’s very important to us that we have a really neat universe for our game to take place in, and it’s something we put a lot of effort and attention into.
How can I find out when the Alpha is?
There’s a signup form on the website for a newsletter that will keep you in the loop. We will be using this newsletter sparingly, we won’t be spamming you with anything.
I have a cool design for a character, what do I do with it?
Our initial list of 20 characters is already finalised, however we’re also developing a custom game platform, in which you can create your own heroes! So keep your designs around, talk to people in the Discord server about them, and you’ll be able to implement them when the game is out!
If you have any further questions, please join the Spark Discord server, where we have a special channel just for questions you might have about the game and its development. We’re trying to be as open as we can about the process of creating this game, and keeping closely in touch with the community is a very high priority for us.
